AI Insights for Jira — Installation and Usage Guide
See how your projects and teams are doing, right inside Jira. Install it, connect once, and you are ready to go.
What is AI Insights for Jira?
AI Insights for Jira is an app by Catch Up AI for Jira Cloud. It adds a tab to your projects that turns your Jira work into clear dashboards, so you can see what is on track and what needs help.
Want to know what the app reads and keeps? It is all on our security and privacy page.
Install
Find AI Insights for Jira on the Atlassian Marketplace and install it on your Jira Cloud site.
Every project now has an AI Insights for Jira tab. It asks you to connect before it shows anything.
Connect your Jira site
Ask a Jira administrator to open the tab on any project and click Connect. Only an administrator can do this.
Atlassian's approval screen opens in a new browser tab. Check what the app is asking for and approve it.
You land back in Jira and the dashboards appear. You only need to do this once, and it covers every project on your site.
The four tabs
PMO Delivery Dashboard
The big picture for a project: how delivery is going, whether sprints finish what they planned, and which open work needs attention first.
Engineering Manager Dashboard
A closer look at the team: how the current sprint is going, what may slip, who is carrying how much, and what to act on next. Choose a person to see their recent work.
Team Performance
How people compare with their peers, with the Jira work behind each result. It shows signals, not a single score, and it says so when there isn't enough data to judge.
Ask Anything
Ask a question about your project in your own words, or pick a prepared one. Each answer shows the issues it is based on, so you can check it yourself.
How AI is used
The dashboards and the prepared questions are worked out directly from your Jira data. When your question doesn't match a prepared one, AI helps write the answer. These answers are labelled, and their numbers still come from your Jira data.
Each person and each site has a daily AI limit, and once it is reached the app says so and prepared questions keep working.
Find what you need
Use the filters under the tabs to focus on a team, a time period, an issue type, a sprint or a custom field.
Curious about a number? Select it to see the Jira issues behind it. Many lists also have a CSV download button, as long as your browser allows downloads from inside Jira.
Project settings
The app works with sensible defaults. To fit it to a project, a Jira administrator can go to Jira Settings → Apps → AI Insights for Jira Settings, pick the project, and choose:
Done statuses: which statuses count as finished.
Time allowed: how many days work can stay in a status before it counts as late.
Team slice: whether teams are split by Jira component or by label.
Reconnect, disconnect or uninstall
Reconnect
If the app loses its link to Jira or needs a new permission, the tab asks an administrator to reconnect. Your settings stay as they are.
Disconnect
An administrator can choose Disconnect on the settings page. This deletes your connection and your saved project settings. The dashboards stop until you connect again.
Uninstall
When you uninstall the app from Jira, it asks us to delete your connection and saved settings in the same way.
